Membership

Members include community leaders, civil society advocates, researchers, and members of regional or international organizations who are committed to protecting the rights, autonomy, and dignity of people undergoing planned relocation processes. Members include practitioners and academics who already have ties to community leaders and expertise on planned relocation and who want to advocate for rights-respecting approaches to planned relocation globally. If you are a representative from a local or national government that is currently implementing or interested in learning more about dignified, rights-respecting, community-led planned relocation, please get in touch.

The coalition focuses on planned relocation in the context of disasters and climate change. If you work primarily on resettlement or relocation in settings of conflict, development, or other drivers, you are welcome to register your interest to be informed of activities for mutual learning and experience exchange.

WORKING MODALITIES

The working languages of the Coalition are English and Spanish. In line with funding availability and thanks to volunteer interpreters, meetings and materials are translated and made available in English and Spanish and, when possible, Portuguese and French.

According to funding availability, the Coalition convenes once a year for its annual in-person gathering and to the extent possible, at international conferences and meetings where many coalition members may participate.

Quarterly virtual meetings are scheduled for members to share updates and advance on joint initiatives and projects. Their moderation rotates among coalition members. They are organized in two different time zones, taking into account the global composition of the coalition’s membership.

In addition to the Resources Hub on this website, members have access to internal working documents, reports, documentation of quarterly calls and other resources on a Coalition Google Drive.

A mailing list enables communication and information sharing among members, and a whatsapp group allows for the more informal sharing and promotion of meetings, materials, articles and more informal exchanges and updates.
